Warranty Policy
Last Updated: March 7, 2026
1. General Disclaimer
At chronoshop.ch, we specialize in second-hand, vintage, and New Old Stock (NOS) watch parts. Due to the unique, pre-owned, and often aged nature of our inventory, all items are sold "AS IS". This means that unless explicitly stated otherwise in the product listing, there is no warranty, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
2. No Warranty on Functionality or Compatibility
By purchasing second-hand parts from us, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Installation Risk: Watch part installation requires specialized skill and tools. We are not responsible for any damage that occurs during installation, removal, or modification of any part.
- Compatibility: It is the buyer's sole responsibility to ensure that a part is compatible with their specific watch model, caliber, or case. We provide measurements and descriptions to the best of our ability, but we cannot guarantee that a part designed for a specific caliber (e.g., ETA 2824) will fit in every case made for that movement.
- Performance: Vintage parts, especially mainsprings, balance wheels, and old electronic components, may fail at any time due to age. We do not guarantee the long-term performance or timekeeping accuracy of used mechanical parts.
3. Limited Warranty Against Latent Defects (DOA)
While we do not offer a "warranty" in the traditional sense, we stand behind our descriptions. We offer a 7-Day Latent Defect / DOA (Dead on Arrival) Protection period. This is not a warranty against future failure, but a guarantee that the item was not misrepresented at the time of sale.
Coverage: If a mechanical part (such as a movement, automatic module, or chronograph function) is described as "running" or "working" and it arrives completely non-functional (i.e., it does not run at all, or a main component is seized), we will work with you to resolve the issue.
What is NOT Covered (Exclusions): This limited protection is void and does not apply if:
- The part has been installed. Once a part has been fitted to a watch, we cannot accept claims. This is because we cannot differentiate between a latent defect and damage caused during installation.
- The item was sold "For Parts" or "Not Working." There is no coverage on items explicitly sold as non-functional.
- The issue is cosmetic. Pre-existing scratches, patina, faded lume, or normal wear are not defects; they are characteristics of vintage items.
- The part is a battery. Batteries have no warranty.
- The issue is due to normal wear and tear after receipt.
Process for Claiming: To claim under this DOA protection, you must contact us within 7 days of delivery at [email protected] with your Order Number and a video or photo clearly demonstrating the issue. Do not attempt to repair, clean, or oil the part yourself, as this will void this protection.
4. Specific Part Categories
Different types of parts carry different inherent risks:
- Watch Movements: While we test for basic functionality (balance moves, wheels turn), we cannot guarantee amplitude, beat error, or that they will run for 24+ hours. They are vintage and likely due for a service.
- Dials & Hands: These are sold based on cosmetic condition. There is no warranty regarding the longevity of original lume or the adhesion of applied indices.
- Crystals: We check for cracks, but we cannot guarantee that an old crystal won't crack during installation due to brittleness.
- Crowns & Tubes: We verify threads are functional, but we cannot guarantee a water-resistant seal, as this depends on correct installation and gaskets.
5. Maximum Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, chronoshop.ch (including its owner/operator) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from the use or inability to use any parts purchased from us. Our total liability for any claim arising from a purchase is limited to the amount you paid for the specific item in question.
6. Contact Us
If you have questions about the condition of a part before you buy, please ask! We are happy to provide additional photos or measurements. We would rather answer your questions upfront than have you be disappointed later.
